Photoshop Experiment & Technique LBM

Just having a play on photoshop using The brush tool, Polygonal Lasso tool & opacity.

I'm not the greatest at photoshop but it's a bit of fun seeing what you can do. :)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder LBM

I found this image on Google from the website http://www.lollipop.sg.

This is exactly what I want my concept to be.
Not everything you see is real.

Self Portraiture LBM

This is an image of Davy Jourget. He is a photographer that does Self Portraiture. His work is what I would call different and original.

I like this idea of a self portrait below.

I like how the image looks dark and deep in B&W. Also the image he is holding in front of his face give the picture layers. It's kind of scary but exciting. I would like to do something like this perhaps in a brighter enviroment about self image e.g. with make up on and without make up.

Research - illustrationmundo.com BI

I found an artist on the website illustrationmundo.com who goes by the name of Ian Keltie.
I really love what he does with graphics. This is exactly the type of work I want to get into.

All of his work is vibrant and exciting to look at. You are constantly finding new things inside his works.

Here is a few of them.

Editorial Illustrations, Timeout Magazine, London

Editorial Illustrations, ESPN Magazine, NYC

Hair the Musical Art, Arizona Theatre Company, Tuscon

I chose Ians work because they give me the sense of modern mixed with retro. Never a dull moment looking at art like this!

Line & Texture LBM

Texture

These 2 images show texture. The smoothness of the bottle/lighter against the roughness of the carseat cover/road.

Lines

These images show different variations of lines.

Research LBM

I took this photo tonight of the Harbour Bridge. I thought the colours looked vibrant, so I had a play and this is my favorite one.

Image that utilizes rule of thirds LBM

I took an image of the reserve with one of my classmates by MIT Z Block using the rule of thirds.

The bottom line being where the footpath is. The top line sort of skimming the top of the trees. My classmate being the vertical line on the right and I placed the right vertical line sort of imaginarily half way between the low bush on the right.

Magazine Cover BI

We had to put an image of ourself onto the cover of a magazine with a little added text. Here is what i did.

Photoshop 4 Clothes Designs BI

My concept for these designs is motivation with typography. There is one that I don't like but I thought I would use it anyway because before success comes failure.

1)

2)

3)

4)

The 3rd one I think is a bit simple. Even though I like simple it may be a little too simple. Although I do think it is effective.

Bumper Sticker LBM

Your opinion counts!

Statement LBM

Not a day goes by without me stressing about getting everything completed but i keep pushing forward because this is my passion. Work hard, play hard!

Paper Plane LBM

This is my second attempt at making a paper plane and seeing if it would fly.
My first attempt was feeble and literally just fell on the floor. I think the reason being my design was not that great.
Sooooo, I went back and redesigned my plane by folding it differently and what do ya know, it flew!

Surface Research - Shigeyuki Kihara

Shigeyuki Kihara is a contemporary artist primarily focused on pacific culture. She was born in Samoa, her mother being Samoan and her father being Japanese. Her work consists of self portraiture (provocative nudes portraying polynesian women as sexual objects). Yuki also does performance.
She came to NZ to further her studies at the age of 16 in fashion design. One of her garments she made (Graffiti Dress - Bombacific) was bought and displayed by the Te Papa Museum.

She is a fa'afafine and her work can be found internationally. Here is one of her famed artworks.

Steve Lovett Photoshop PPT Response BI

The reason I chose these 3 images from Steve's powerpoint is because I like the technique of taking an image or object from real life and creating something new and original out of it using digital programmes. It puts a whole new perspective on how you see things.

Response to Expect the Unexpected BI

I like how this image is all black and white and drawn except for the hair which is in colour. It makes it stand out.

This piece interests me because of all the mixed media used to create it. It looks exciting. I am constantly finding something new in the image I couldn't see before.

This piece intrigued me because it shows exactly how I feel at the moment. Overwhelmed and buried. The shading of the image shows how dark you can feel in so many ways.

Life Drawing

Examples of what we covered in class on Friday

1. Blind Contour Drawing
Drawing an object or person without looking at your paper, without taking your pencil off your paper. Adding line variation to show what shadows are darker and lighter, by pushing hard or light in whichever area suits. Of course without looking as well.

2. Gesture Drawing
Radical movements of your arm. Moving freely with your utensil you are drawing with. Drawing the basic shape with circles and then adding detail. Always keep free movements.

3. Modelled Drawing
Keeping your crayon moving constantly. Starting from the centre and moving out, pushing harder and lighter in areas to shape the contour of the object/person.
